 Pte. Henry Chamberlain (22694) 12th Bn. Gloucestershire Regt.  Died Battle of Somme 24/07/1916 age 20 yr.  Son of Albert (collier) & Elizabeth of Brockridge, Frampton Cotterell.

 Pte. Wilfred James Drew (50583) 2nd Bn. Royal Berkshire Regt.  Died as POW 26/08/1918 age 19 yr.  Son of Samuel & Eliza, Hazelmere, Coalpit Heath.

 Pte. George Fowler (202993) 8th Bn. Gloucestershire Regt.  Died 30/10/1918.  Dies as a POW in Poland.  Biography not available.

 Pte. Albert Hobbs (18894) 5th Bn. Gloucestershire Regt.  Died near Ypres 16/08/1917 age 21 yr.  Son of Thomas (collier) & Clara Hobbs, Winterbourne.

 Pte. William Langley (19661) 1st Bn. Dorsetshire Regt.  Died during Battle of Somme 15/04/1917 age 32 yr.  Son of Luke & Nancy, Ryecroft Road, Frampton Cotterell.  Father-in-law of the late Norman Crew.

 Pte. Harold Millett (21340) 9th Bn. Army Cyclist Corps.  Died during Battle of Cateau 19/10/1918 age 22 yr.  Son of Albert & Elizabeth, School Road, Frampton Cotterell.

 Pte. Garnet Stiff (11195) 61st Bn. Canadian Infantry.  Wounded at Vimy Ridge, died after repatriation 6/05/1917 age 31 yr.  Son of William (carpenter at colliery) & Rebecca, School Road, Frampton Cotterell.

 Sgt. Roy Stiff (11195) 61st Bty. Royal Field Artillery.  Repatriated but he died 18/12/1917 age 23 yr.  Son of William (carpenter at colliery) & Rebecca, School Road, Frampton Cotterell.

 Gunner Wilfred Varlow (185 S) Royal Marine Artillery.  Died in Belgium 25/07/1917 age 36 yr.  Son of George (carpenter at collery) & Elizabeth, 12 Upper Stone Close, Frampton Cotterell.  Uncle to the late Gladys Stabbins.  Wilfred worked in the leather Dept. at Harrods in London.

 Pte. George Walters (20122) 14th Bn. Gloucestershire Regt.  Died at Somme 23/03/1918 age 25 yr.  Son of Mark (collier) & Harriet,  Mill House, Ryecroft Road, Frampton Cotterell.

 The Great War claimed lives of ¾ million British men so almost every family experienced loss.
